I am big on buying and selling books.  I supplement my income by selling books on Amazon.com.  Therefore, I am obviously interested in keeping people interested in buying books!  But sometimes there are ways that people can get books at a much lower cost than buying  the book online or in  a bookstore.

I am thinking immediately of paperbackswap.com, a website where individuals can list books that they are willing to send to other people for credit points which they can then use to order books from other club members for their own use.  It is a very simple process.  Just go to www.paperbackswap.com and you’ll get all the directions on how the club works.  When you join the club, you  immediately post some of your own books that you are willing to trade and you are given points that you can use to request books from other club members. While the club is called “paperback”swap.com, they also let you list and exchange hardback books.

As part of the membership process, you can specify book genres that you are most interested in, and when you sign in to the club website you will be shown books in those genres that are immediately available for swapping.  And, of course, you can also look at books of any or all genres at any time.  One of the more interesting features is the one that shows books that have just recently been posted, so you can get a first shot at those books when you are logged in and browsing the website.  Another great feature is that you can create a “wish list” of books that you want, but are not currently available on paperbackswap.com.  When the book becomes available, they will notify you that it is available if you still wish to  request it.

As a member, you will be sending your books to other club members when they request them.  A good feature of the club is that if someone requests one of your books, you receive an e-mail letting you know that a book from your inventory has been requested.  That way you do not have to worry about checking the site frequently to see if you have book requests from other members.  You will get an e-mail informing you of that request.

While I definitely want you to continue to be a book BUYER, recycling books through paperbackswap.com is a good idea, too.  I encourage you to take a look at their Website and see if it would be of interest to you.  I have personally “swapped” a lot of books through this group!
