I guess all languages “evolve.” The English language certainly does. I read in today’s (Tuesday September 21, 2010) edition of “Shelf Awareness” that the newest edition of “The New Oxford American Dictionary” has lots of new entries.
“Hockey moms” and “bromance” are among the 2,000 new words, phrases, and meanings that have found their place in the latest edition of the New Oxford American Dictionary, the Guardian reported. Text messaging abbreviations TTYL, BFF and LMAO also made the cut.
Until I went to the referenced article in the Guardian, I had no idea what the word “bromance” means. Do you know? Read the article. It is interesting.
