Well, it is that season - that season that rolls around every four years when we get to elect a new President. I love politics and am really enjoying this week as we have the Democratic National Convention. I am a Democrat so I am truly enjoying the speeches and enthusiasm of the convention. Of course, next week is the Republican National Convention and we will hear a whole other set of values and goals. It will be interesting to hear and see how John McCain is presented to the country.
I have always had an interest and curiosity about the children of Presidents. This week we have seen Caroline Kennedy and Chelsea Clinton, who have grown into such mature, classy women. And we’ve seen the young children of Presidential nominee Barack Obama and how they stole the show on Monday night!
What would it be like to be the child of a President? There is a book, First Kids (ISBN 0545033691), by Noah McCullough that tells about all the children of the Presidents. It is written for 9 to 12 year olds, but I think I would like to read it to! By the way, the author, Noah McCullough is 12 years old! His goal is to be President in 2032. This would be a great book for your kids to read during this political season. I am sure it helps put a real face on the families of the Presidents.
