It is interesting to look occasionally at the Bestseller Lists from the major online booksellers. Currently dominating the Top 20 (actually Top 21) with both Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com are two very recently popular authors, Suzanne Collins and the late Steig Larsson.
Both authors’ books are part of trilogies. Suzanne Collins’ latest release Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games) sits in the #1 spot on both Amazon’s and Barnes and Noble’s hourly bestsellers lists as I write this. The book has been on Amazon.com’s Top 100 list for 214 days. Collin’s second book in the trilogy, Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) is presently #8 on Amazon.com and #10 on BarnesandNoble.com. And the first book in the series The Hunger Games sits at #10 on Amazon.com and #21 on BarnesandNoble.com. The Hunger Games has been on Amazon.com’s Top 100 list for 370 days.
Steig Larsson’s books have been selling very fast in recent months also. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest at this hour is #4 on Amazon.com and #11 over at BarnesandNoble.com. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is #6 on Amazon and #13 on BarnesandNoble. The book has been on Amazon.com’s Top 100 list for an amazing 433 days. Finally, Larsson’s The Girl Who Played with Fire is #7 and #17 on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com respectively.
