If you look around a bookstore - an Internet store or a brick and mortar bookstore - you’re sure to find lots of books on organizing your house.  When I see those books, I immediately think of our garage and the organizational help it continually needs!  A few books I am aware of on organizing garages - each of which is available from  Amazon  are Organize Your Garage in No Time (Barry Izsak), Your Garagenous Zone: Interactive Ideas for the Garage (Bill West), and IdeaWise Garages: Inspiration & Information for Do It Yourselfers (Laura Gross).

Our garage is the area of our house that needs the most help! It gets out of control.  From my overstock of books, which I sell on the Internet, to the tote bags my wife sells, to toys, tools, cleaning supplies, household items, seasonal decorations, and just plain junk, the garage is stuffed to the top.  It is pretty much unorganized.  I say pretty much unorganized because we have made numerous attempts to organize the garage, but we have never completely done the job.

We have used pegboard behind a workbench to organize tools.  We bought several shelf units at a local wholesale club and lined the walls of the garage.  We have tried to use plastic bins as much as possible to categorize items for storage.  Our bicycles are hanging on hooks on the wall and are out of the way.  We still have a long way to go to get our garage as organized as it should be, but we are making an effort!

There are countless articles on the Internet about organizing your garage.  A few I have read that were helpful were at about.com , organized-living.com , and at hgtv.com.  These are just a few of the many articles.
