I was reading the “Shelf-Awareness” email newsletter on Friday 3/14/08. There was an interesting interview with author Felicia C. Sullivan. Alonquin has just published her memoir, ‘The Sky Isn’t Visible From Here’. She was asked several questions but the two that I’ve thought about the most are “What’s on Your Nightstand Now” and “Favorite Book When You Were a Child”. Ms. Sullivan currently has “Welcome to Shirley: A Memoir From an Atomic Town” by Kelly McMasters on her nightstand (as of the interview). Her favorite book as a child was “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll.
So, what’s on my nightstand now that I am reading? I don’t really read in bed, but the books I am reading now are beside my favorite chair! I am reading “Finn” by Jon Clinch. Finn is Huckleberry Finn’s father and it is proving to be an interesting read. It was published in 2007. I am also reading “If Life is a Game, These are the Rules” by Cherie Carter-Scott, Ph.D. This is a good motivational book on how to live your daily life. Just this week I finished “Little Gold Book of Yes! Attitude” by Jeffrey Gitomer. It REALLY challenges you to think positively. I need to read it again! My favorite book as a child was “Watership Down” by Richard Adams. I keep thinking I will read it again, but I never get around to it.
What are you currently reading and what was your favorite book as a child? It would be great if you would share it with us….
